Affordable Tecno Pova 6 Neo 5G has a 108MP camera and AI smarts
This April, Tecno unveiled the Pova 6 Neo, a 4G phone with a bigger battery. Now, the company is launching a 5G model that may bear the same name, but with several notable differences.
Tecno Pova 6 Neo 5G is powered by Dimensity 6300. It is paired with 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage (UFS 2.2). With the Virtual RAM option you can double the RAM (up to 16GB). More importantly, the 5G model has a microSD slot for expanding storage (the 4G model didn’t have this option).
Another big upgrade – which Tecno claims is a first for this price segment – is the 108MP camera. The company didn’t reveal which sensor it used, but it says it offers 3x in-sensor zoom.
Talking about the price segment, the 6/128GB model is priced at ₹12,000 ($145/€130), while the 8/256GB is slightly more at just ₹13,000 ($155/€140). There is a discount of ₹1,000 on these prices and you can get an additional ₹1,000 off with an exchange deal. 4G Neo is not available in India, so we can’t compare prices directly.
However, 4G and 5G models cannot be directly compared as there are more differences The new 5G model has a smaller 6.67” IPS LCD (120Hz) with only HD+ resolution compared to the 6.78” 120Hz IPS LCD with FHD+ resolution. The 4G model also has a 50MP camera.
Gone is the large 7,000mAh battery that defined the 4G model, as is its 33W charging. Instead, the Pova 6 Neo 5G has a regular 5,000mAh battery with 18W charging. On the plus side, there is now some dust and water resistance with an IP54 rating.
It’s fairly rare in cheap phones in India, but this Neo sports “omnidirectional” NFC The 4G model also has NFC. Both the phones have stereo speakers.
You’d think 5G connectivity would be the highlight of this phone, but no – it’s “your new AI BFF”. It has all the AI features we’ve come to expect, from removing unwanted people and objects from photos to creating images from scratch.
Tecno Pova 6 Neo 5G will launch in India on September 14 (Saturday) and will be available from Amazon and retail stores. You can choose between three colors: Azure Sky, Midnight Shadow and Aurora Cloud.
