Galaxy S24 FE to launch with One UI 6.1, or will it?

Samsung has added the Galaxy S24 FE to the list of supported devices for its Camera Assistant app. In the process, the company revealed that the handset will launch with One UI 6.1—based on Android 14—out of the box.

It was expected. In December, Samsung first announced new smartphones with the latest version of Android that Google releases in the second half of each year, and the Galaxy S24 FE is expected to arrive before that, although a specific launch date is unknown. the time

However, there is a way that the Galaxy S24 FE could arrive with Android 15 and One UI 7.0 in some markets: Samsung is rolling out the device to different regions in phases like its predecessor.

Some markets may get One UI 7 out of the box
The Galaxy S23 FE debuted in October last year with Android 13 and One UI 5.1 onboard. But in Europe and parts of the world, it doesn’t arrive until December and Samsung has preloaded the phone with Android 14 and One UI 6.0 for the delayed launch in those markets.

Something similar might happen with the Galaxy S24 FE, though that’s just speculation for now. It also remains to be seen if the S24 FE will be eligible for seven major Android OS upgrades like the original Galaxy S24 trio.

The Galaxy S FE smartphones offer equivalent hardware and software to their non-FE counterparts, so we see no reason for Samsung not to provide the same level of after-sales support for all four Galaxy S24 models other than the price difference.

Author’s note: The S24 FE will likely bring some of the functionality — including most, if not all, of the Galaxy AI features — that’s part of One UI 6.1.1 on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, although the device officially has its One UI Will report as version 6.1. This is because Samsung does not use the x.1.1 version number on foldable or tablet devices.
